The PERCH team has a lot to be thankful for this holidays and had one more reason to celebrate this holidays - We were named one of the 15 Tech Companies to Watch in 2018 by Forbes, and we find ourselves in very good company.
Forbes recognized companies that are truly revolutionary and bringing about a new, reimagined and better future - bringing medical supplies to those in need (Zipline); curing type 2 diabetes with diet(Virta Health); encouraging new solutions to help the disabled among us (TOM), making self-driving cars safer and more efficient (Nauto); making the world of billions of Internet-connected devices manageable (OptimalPlus); tools for marketers to create more engaging websites (Concurra) and apps (Leanplum), understand their customers (StartApp), and apply AI to public relations marketing (Propel). Those are just a few. Many of them have raised tens or hundreds of millions of dollars.
As you can imagine, it’s pretty humbling for PERCH to be included in that list. As the article rightly points out, we are driven to reimagine the in-store experience by combining the exploration of physical products with digital experiences. You can call it augmented reality or mixed reality, interactive retail kiosks or in-store digital display – we call it a necessity. Brands already have realized that they are media companies, as they express on the web, in social media and in advertising. There is a huge, untapped potential to bring that digital storytelling and experience in-store – and consumers are responding to it in record numbers.
Any public recognition like this requires a bit of self-reflection on how we got here and where we are going to live up to the hype. We are more excited than ever about the future ahead and 2018 is poised to be a breakout year. We have a couple of big announcements to make in the Big Box and CPG space, proving that marrying digital to in-store products is an industry-wide imperative to deploy at scale. We have a couple new clients in Beverage that have built stunning interactive displays that we are going to share. And we have opened up a couple new industries with brand leaders we are excited about and our partner program is expanding rapidly.
We continue to invest in the PERCH platform and will have some great Q1 announcements about the evolution of our CMS, sensing technologies and new applications. We have more great case studies launching to share, proving 5-10x engagement and 30-80% sales lift across categories, and we will have some great announcements for CES and NRF in January.
We are a company in motion, and we thank Forbes for the recognition of our achievements in and industry undergoing a massive shift. But you haven’t seen anything yet. Retail is going to have a big year in 2018 that will dispel the criticisms of the naysayers. We are as excited as ever and proud to be a part of that transformation.
